Composite ladder compartment PGG SA KWK Ruda Ruch Halemba

In connection with the need for mining equipment to bear heavy loads, KG Consulting together with KG Construction sp. z o.o. have developed a flame-retardant, antistatic and non-toxic composite compound called NKG.

Heavy-duty mining equipment mainly includes shaft reinforcement structures: ladder compartments, girders, and guides operating in particularly corrosive conditions (changing temperatures, moisture, and saltwater inflow). The new mixture also contributes to improving the durability and increasing the service life of shaft reinforcement elements and to ensuring the safety of mining crews, as well as to reducing their operating costs by reducing the frequency of replacing shaft reinforcement elements. The new NKG material is a blend of: glass fiber polyester resins, flame retardants, and an antistatic agent – graphene nanotubes, which provide surface conductivity and allow dissipation of electrostatic charges. It is produced using the pultrusion method, i.e. continuous production of thermosetting profiles. The profiles are produced by drawing glass fibers soaked in resins according to the NKG formula in a fully automated manner through a system of molds providing an appropriate shape, and then thermosetting them.

The mixture meets the requirements of the Mining Law, including the Regulation of the Minister of Energy of November 23, 2016 and the Regulation of the Council of Ministers of April 30, 2004 on the admission of equipment for use in mining plants (Journal of Laws No. 99, Item 1003 as amended).

In this way, products were developed in the form of equivalents of metallurgical sections: channels, I-beams, angle sections, trusses, from which the following were made:

–  Composite mining ladder compartments and roofing nets;
–  Composite mining girders;
–  Composite working platforms;
–  Composite shaft guides.

In cooperation with the Projects, Innovations and Development Department of PBSz S.A., research and development work is being carried out on other elements of shaft equipment, such as: skip equipment, man-riding cages, escape tunnels, etc.
